PROPHETS, MANIFESTATIONS AND GIFTS

Part 2 - Manifestations: The Seven Forms of Prophecy

by Yashah Ben-Y'shua

& Shabar Ben-Yehudah

The prophetic word is and has always been an extremely important part of true ministry. A genuine prophetic voice is simply not an option, but absolutely essential to the perfecting of the saints. As it is written, "Surely YHWH Elohim (the Lord God) will do nothing, but He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets."

Although the variety of ways in which the prophetic gifts
manifest are virtually infinite, there are differing
fundamental types and forms of prophecy that can be
broken down into seven over-arching categories:
  • Conditional
  • Judgmental
  • Revelatory
  • Inspirational
  • Messianic
  • Radical
  • Apocalyptic
The following is a set of brief explanations and examples
for each of these seven basic forms:

I. Conditional Prophecy

This very basic form of prophecy holds forth a promise
from YHWH, the fulfillment of which is based upon one's
obedience; as opposed to unconditional prophecies that
are or have been fulfilled irrespective of the actions of
the saint(s).

Here are some scriptural examples of this form:

Moshe (Moses)
And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto
the voice of YHWH your Elohim, to observe and to do all his
commandments which I command you this day, that YHWH
your Elohim will set you on high above all nations of the
earth: … but it shall come to pass, if you will not pay heed to
the voice of YHWH your Elohim, to observe to do all his
commandments and his statutes which I command you this
day, that all these curses shall come upon you, and overtake
you… (Debarim [Deuteronomy] 28).

YeshaYahu (Isaiah)
If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the
land: But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with
the sword: for the mouth of YHWH hath spoken it.
(YeshaYahu [Isaiah] 1:19- 20).

Y'shua ('Jesus')
Then said Y'shua to those of Yehudah [Jews] which believed
on Him, If you continue in my word, then are you are my
disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth
shall make you free. (Yehochanan [John] 8:31-32).

II. Judgmental Prophecy

This often despised and yet critical form of prophecy
provides correction, admonition and even chastisement -
and contrary to the current prevailing winds of doctrine is
an absolute necessity, even in this hour, to fully round out
the perfection of the saints in love. It also serves as a key
tool in leading the guilty to repentance and the fallen to
restoration.

Scriptural examples:

Sh'muel (Samuel)
And Sh'muel said to Shaul (Saul), You have done foolishly: you
have not kept the commandment of YHWH your Elohim,
which He commanded you: for now would YHWH have
established your kingdom upon Israel for ever. But now your
kingdom shall not continue: YHWH has sought him a man
after his own heart, and YHWH has commanded him to be
captain over his people, because you have not kept that
which YHWH commanded you. (1 Sh'muel [Samuel] 13:13,
14).

YeshaYahu (Isaiah)
For the people turn not unto him that smites them, neither
do they seek YHWH of hosts. Therefore YHWH will cut off
from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one
day. The aged and honorable, he is the head; and the
prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail. For the leaders of
this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them
are destroyed. Therefore YHWH shall have no joy in their
young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and
widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and
every mouth speaks folly. For all this His anger is not
turned away, but His hand is stretched out still. (YeshaYahu
[Isaiah] 9:13-17).

Y'shua ('Jesus')
And when He had come near, He beheld the city, and wept
over it, saying, If you had known, even you, at least in this
your day, the things which belong to your peace! But now
they are hidden from your eyes. For the days shall come
upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench about you,
and encompass you around, and keep you in on every side,
And shall lay you even with the ground, and you children
within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon
another; because you knew not the time of your visitation.
(Luke 19:41-44).
